Position Title: Inventory Control Specialist

Reports To: Supply Chain Manager

Overview of Position:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring that inventory is managed, tracked, and recorded to the specifications and standards of Phoenix Global. This position will be based out of East Chicago, IN and may require minimal travel for possible training or team building.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Inventory management: Maintain a consistent stock level, work with management to order new stock
  • Tracking inventory: Track inventory and stock changes, and look for discrepancies
  • Inventory records: Maintain detailed inventory records
  • Inventory reporting: Report inventory levels and issues to management
  • Inventory systems: Maintain inventory control within SAP
  • Stock transfers: Coordinate the logistics of stock transfers
  • Controls: Enforce inventory control policies established by management
  • System entries: Perform system entries to maintain inventory and bin accuracy

Work Environment:

This job takes place in a Steel Mill setting requiring a sense of high-level safety reverence using the required PPE for the environment. This job requires routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and listen in potentially noisy indoor and outdoor environments. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk on both flat and uneven surfaces; sit; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This job requires the employee to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis.

Required Education, Skill, and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Willingness to work in a Steel Mill
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree or higher in a business, technical, or related field preferred but not required
