Job Summary
Imaging technologists are trained, registered and certified by the State of Washington to perform technical, physical and social functions needed in the Imaging Department under the professional guidance of a Radiologist, and as written in Department and Hospital policy and procedure manuals. The Radiology Tech III is dedicated to providing quality service in a timely, courteous, and cost effective manner. Essential Functions
Section 1 - Knowledge and Standards of Performance Determine correct mode of transportation for patients and be cognizant of patient comfort and privacy. When indicated, proper consent form properly signed by patient on file and patient fully informed, give patients preparation instructions, and explain any procedure to patient to facilitate cooperation and reduce anxiety. Complete paperwork for each exam correctly and error free. Assume responsibility for special programs and paperwork. Check out films, answer phones, relay messages, call reports when requested, keep filing up to date. Understand the function of the radiology office and perform all procedures correctly. Willing to change shifts and help with on call duties when necessary. Responsible for knowing and adhering to departmental rules and regulations while performing in a professional manner. Knowledgeable of the various needs of patients due to their age and determine appropriate care. Responsible for completion of all procedures scheduled in a timely manner without compromising quality. Keep up to date on performing emergency examinations. Maintains a positive, customer-oriented attitude. Meets organizational and work unit standards as outlined in policies and procedures. Performs all job duties in accordance with recognized safety procedures. Demonstrates the ability to make calm and sensible decisions under various work situations, dealing with immediate problems reasonably. Section 2 - Processes and Procedures Perform imaging exams in, but not limited to, MR and Radiology in accordance with approved departmental and hospital policies and procedures while meeting the standards of performance as required by the Radiologists. Understand and use equipment as outlined in policy and procedures for emergency work. Responsible for MR operational standards, including, but not limited to: Performance and documentation of quality control tests. Maintain quality assurance records. Equipment performance and service. Personnel qualification records. Maintain current knowledge of trends, regulation, equipment, policies and procedures pertaining to functional area. Medical records (reports and films); medical audit and outcome analysis records. Training new technologists. Corrective action planning. Writing and updating policies and procedures. Utilize proper procedures to insure patient safety while in department. Demonstrate proper MR and radiation safety procedures for patient and self. Demonstrate competency in exposure factors, telephone protocol, patient transport, assisting patients with dress/undress, ordering stock line/supplies, retrieving records/file folders and room clean up. Demonstrate proper procedure in use of equipment throughout the hospital. Prepare contrast media. Vital signs. Page on call personnel. Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee. Section 3 - Knowledge/Use of Equipment Be knowledgeable of all equipment within the Imaging department. Section 4 - Continuous Quality Improvement Obtain good quality exams. Be responsible for personal radiation badge. Use proper procedures for infection control. Properly label and mark all films. Leads and/or participates in developing and designing systems and processes for the new organization. Continually improves and redesigns processes to increase productivity and quality. Section 5 - Required Education and Training Registry with ARRT. Certification with the State of Washington. Continue education by attending at least one seminar per year. Attend proper in-service meetings. Have CPR rating update bi-annually. *Continuing Education: Identifies new topics for continuing education, and pursues educational offerings. Shares educational information with coworkers, keeps record of continuing education. Uses educational information to develop/update practice standards. Attends staff meetings in lieu of attendance, read, sign and date meeting minutes and all annual mandatory sessions. Actively participates in staff orientation. Section 6 - Resource Utilization Registry with ARRT. Certification with the State of Washington. Continue education by attending at least one seminar per year. Attend proper in-service meetings. Have CPR rating update bi-annually. *Continuing Education: Identifies new topics for continuing education, and pursues educational offerings. Shares educational information with coworkers, keeps record of continuing education. Uses educational information to develop/update practice standards. Education
High School diploma or GED required. Successful completion of an accredited radiologic technologist training program.

Experience/Training
MR certification and or competency required. Previous experience in a hospital is desirable. Must have good understanding of the equipment and all procedures performed routinely in a hospital imaging department. Continuing education is necessary. Must have good understanding of quality control tests.

License/Certifications
Current Washington State Radiologic Technologist required. Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) required. ARRT (MR) registry preferred. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Other Skills
Radiology Tech III are required to work in general X-Ray and/or any other modality that competency has been documented.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.
