Mission Statement:
OSAAVA is seeking a TEMPEST Specialist to support the United States Air Force’s 53rd Wing Technical Support Services (53rd WTSS) contract. This contract supports the 53rd Computer Systems Squadron (CSS) Det 2, based at Eglin AFB, FL, with units across the continental U.S. The 53rd Wing is a key player in electronic warfare, responsible for operational testing and evaluation of advanced equipment and systems, partnering with both military and civilian teams to provide world-class IT support.

Job Description:
We are looking for a self-motivated and energetic TEMPEST Specialist to join the 53rd Computer Systems Squadron Det 2. The 53rd CSS Det 2 is responsible for evaluating network capabilities and integrating data from various test facilities for electronic warfare mission data dissemination.

In this role, you will work closely with the Wing Cybersecurity Officer (WCO), Cybersecurity Liaisons (CLs), and Operations personnel to implement and assess EMSEC (Emissions Security) policies. Your main responsibility will be to compile and submit TEMPEST packages to the Air Force Certified TEMPEST Technical Authority (CTTA). Additional duties include:

  • Providing TEMPEST guidance to command staff and subordinate offices.
  • Performing TEMPEST assessments and reviewing countermeasures.
  • Coordinating countermeasure waivers and exemptions.
  • Assessing system security and recommending mitigations.
  • Reviewing security controls to advise on system effectiveness.
  • Preparing compliance audit reports.
  • Conducting EMSEC assessments, defining requirements, and implementing countermeasures for various offices and facilities.
  • Developing technical documentation and drawings for EMSEC assessments.
  • Assisting customers in ensuring EMSEC requirements are met for information systems and cryptographic equipment.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Active/valid DoD Secret Clearance
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT-II certification required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Frequent typing and reading from a computer screen
  • Must have mobility to perform tasks such as bending, reaching, and kneeling
  • Moderate to long-distance walking may be required due to parking and worksite location

Work Environment:

  • Office setting at Eglin AFB, FL
  • Some lifting may be required (up to 30 pounds)
  • No unusual environmental hazards
  • Compliance with DoD and USAF COVID-19 mitigation measures is required

Equipment and Machines:

  • Operate office equipment (PC, printer, copier, phone, fax machine, etc.)

Attendance & Flexibility:

  • Regular attendance is essential, especially for deadlines and meetings
  • Flexibility in work hours may be required for critical mission needs
  • Must be able to work assigned shifts, either rotational or permanent
