Responsibilities

The Lab Testing Technician supports the Medical Technologists with processing specimens, maintenance of analyzers, inventory control and follow up with caregivers on results or the need for recollections; sets up microbiology specimens for Medical Technologist staff; performs and results moderate complexity testing; performs quality control testing for waived tested and provides data for interpretation to appropriate lab personnel; processes specimens for test and for send out to confirmation laboratories; assists blood blank with blood product inventory and paperwork; calls patient care staff with critical lab values or for needs for specimen recollection and documents as requested in the record; performs maintenance and technical upkeep on analyzer equipment as needed and trained; conducts inventory review of reagents and other supplies and orders replacements as needed; supports Medical Lab Technician and Medical Technologists as requested; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies in the Laboratory; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biomedical or biological science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama
