Position Summary: The Project Engineer assists the Superintendent, Construction Manager, and Project Manager in achieving project goals. This will be accomplished by adherence to safety, quality, performance, and project controls standards. Project types include both the civil and electrical scopes of substation, distribution, transmission, and battery storage projects. Essential Functions: Duties vary by project, typically include: Take all necessary actions to comply with all laws and regulations at assigned site. Maintain the construction schedule, provide performance-based financials (budget vs. actual). Provide appropriate communication with the client in accordance with client driven processes. Ensure that the crew safety audit program is implemented according to established policy. Assist in the establishment of Project Management programs to maximize Safety, Quality, and Productivity on the work site. Produce and coordinate required information associated with construction projects, including but not limited to review and submission of time and material sheets, payroll inputs, tools and materials tracking and documentation, processing A/P invoices, creating RFIs, creating Submittals, creating 3-week lookahead schedules. Assisting with the job site reporting function (i.e. daily required reports, safety, Environmental, etc.). Filling system set-up and maintenance, establishing/maintaining/monitoring document control logs, i.e. RFI’s, submittals, contract drawings, specifications, shop drawings). Producing and logging project photographic records. Assisting in preparation of labor reports and cost reports. Coordinating and assisting with information distribution to subcontractors and own forces. Producing and completing quality assurance and quality control checklists to ensure compliance with contract requirements. Minimum Requirements: BA/BS degree in Construction Management or a related field and 0-4 years of prior relevant experience desired, preferably with a self-performing contractor. OR If no relevant degree, 4 years of experience in construction with at least 2 of those years spent in a Field Engineer or Project Engineer role. This experience needs to be with a self-performing civil or electrical contractor. Self-starter, detail oriented, organized, and a strong ability to follow up and close out tasks. Strong written, presentational, influencing and communication skills. Ability to read and understand construction drawings and communicate their requirements to field personnel. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to take accurate field measurements. Strong problem-solving skills. Strong analytical skills. Experience with scheduling and management processes. Ability to work with all levels of the corporation in a collegial and relationship building fashion and act as a mentor to field supervision and operations personnel. Proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) required. Proficiency in PDF editing software (Bluebeam, Adobe, Nitro, etc.) required. Proficiency in Procore is preferred. Job cost, Payroll, A/P experience and proficiency preferred. Clean driving record. Ability and willingness to travel and move from job site to job site possibly in remote areas. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
