Qualifications
• High school or equivalent (Required)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in veterinary medicine as a veterinary technician.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• CVT, LVT, RVT license preferred.

Description

Strong communication skills, leadership, computer proficiency, and organization will be expected from the successful candidate in addition to dependability, punctuality, and flexibility.

This is a special practice with a team who are dedicated to providing our clients and their pets with exceptional care. A variety of shifts including nights and weekends and holidays are required.

Summary:

The responsibilities of the Lead Veterinary Technician include, but are not limited to the following activities:

-Assist with day-to-day oversight of the hospital functions – assigning roles to team members, assigning triage times, and keeping the flow through the departments.

-Ensuring daily checklists and responsibilities are being completed by the technicians. Delegating tasks as needed.

-Help keep the team on task and ensure excessive idle time or phone usage. Assign tasks to technicians during downtime as needed.

-Maintaining and supporting a positive client experience.

-Provide additional support to all of the technicians and management team by resolving client questions and conflicts as they arise and reporting them to management.

-Monitor various communication channels throughout the day to ensure tasks are being completed. Address uncompleted tasks and delegate as necessary.

-Be the point of contact for going home early, coming in late, callouts, making cuts, etc.

-Cover gaps in the schedule.

-Assist with training where needed. Collaborate with management to develop new training techniques.

-Oversee and provide support to all technician and technician assistants, including flow of the floor.

-Work well with all team members and ensure that actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.

-Proactively identify solutions to overcome unexpected volume, delays, staffing shortage, etc.

-Maintain a positive work environment for all employees by shutting down negative talk on the floor. Ensure no gossip, bullying or discrimination to other employees and/or clients.

-Work well with all team members and ensure that actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.

-Attend regular department meetings.

-Check ACV email on a regular basis to ensure timely communication with management and staff.
