Description

The Dean and Barbara White Southlake YMCA, located in Crown Point, IN is looking for a Cause Driven Leader to become our Associate Executive Director to take one of the fastest growing Y's in the country to the next level with program delivery and excellence. We are looking for someone that has extensive program background in Aquatics, Gymnastics, Dance, Cheer, Ninja, Sports, Preschool, and Youth and Family Programs.

Facility: In 2019, the Southlake Y had a major expansion with an 80,000 sq. ft. addition that launched our membership and programs. In 2022, we added another 15,000 sq feet with a brand-new Gymnastics, Dance, Cheer, Ninja Center, 2 outdoor Urban Soccer Parks and a turf field for Sports. Our facility is now 135,000 sq. feet indoors. The total operating budget for Southlake is $10MM, $2.8MM of that is programs. POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Associate Executive Director oversees staff development, innovation, risk management, customer service delivery and achieving budget targets. This position is accountable for the successful administration of the YMCA Program departments including Day Camp, Youth & Family/STEAM, Kidzone, Aquatics, Preschool, Gymnastics, Dance, Cheer, Ninja, and Sports development. The Associate Executive Director is a key member of branch leadership guided by the Branch Executive, YMCA operating principles, Association Leadership Norms and must operate in a manner consistent with our organizational values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in support of the Y brand.
  2. Directs branch program marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to
    the community and inform members and participants.
  3. Supports branch annual campaign towards increasing goals to support community services and the mission of the Y.
  4. Fosters a climate of innovation and implements appropriate strategies to ensure inclusion and access for all.
  5. Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
  6. Develops and enhances the quality and innovation of the participant experience to improve retention, cross pollination, and membership/program growth.
  7. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, members, volunteers, and the community.
  8. Provides strong recruitment, development, and succession planning processes to insure the hiring, professional development, and retention of high-quality staff. Develops strategies to motivate and achieve goals.
  9. Provides feedback to branch strategic planning efforts and drives the annual operating plan of the branch.
  10. Works with association leadership to set achievable operational and performance goals for assigned staff which are aligned with long term goals and strategies of the association.
  11. Facilitates the development of the annual budget under the guidance of the supervisor and association leadership.
  12. Drive the development, management, and monitoring assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Adjust the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits report on current operations monthly.
  13. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of programs and trends. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs and employs corrective strategies as needed.
  14. Ensures the implementation of the associations risk management program to ensure safe facilities and programs for members, volunteers, and staff.
  15. Addresses gaps in safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  16. Ensures all the policies of the organization are implemented, including financial, human capital, and program policies.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
  2. Three or more years of experienced in related field required.
  3. YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
  4. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid, New Employee Orientation, and online trainings.
  5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  6. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  8. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  9. Microsoft Office experience and ability to quickly learn other software programs is required.
