Job Description: Child Care Center Cook
Job Summary: Prepares meals and snacks for the children enrolled in the Center ensuring that meals and snacks are ready at scheduled times. Prepares and serves food according to proper health and safety methods. May assist in classroom when necessary.
Essential Functions/Job Responsibilities:
Prepares meals and snacks according to approved menu & posted schedule, and distributes food ensuring health and safety standards are met.
Maintains inventory of food; calculates appropriate amounts of food needed, assists with ordering as directed.
Properly labels and stores all food items; follows all health and safety related and/or OSHA guidelines.
Maintains required records of meal and snacks; maintains master menu, including making approved menu changes when directed and keeping parents informed of menu changes.
Prepare meals for children who have dietary restrictions / allergies
Performs clean up duties after meals and snacks including food clean-up, washing/sanitizing dishes, utensils, and cookware.
Performs routine kitchen related maintenance and notifies Director about maintenance needed if not performed.
Interacts with children, and families, being friendly and supportive, following company procedures and state guidelines on the supervision of children.
Attends all staff meetings, training sessions, meetings and programs as requested by the Director.

Ability to work flexible schedule consistent with hours of operation, and ability to adapt hours to the needs of the business
Commitment to complete annual state licensing training requirements
Ability to interact and communicate with tact and diplomacy with children, parents and school staff
Qualifications:
ServSafe Certification and Food Handling Certification or willing to obtain
Child Care Background Check
Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
Experience and Education:
Cooking: 2 years
Cooking in childcare: 1 year (Required)
High School Diploma
