TITLE: ASSISTANT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

REPORTS TO: ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, BUILDING ADMINISTRATORS

JOB GOAL: TO ENABLE ELIGIBLE STUDENTS, TO TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE COMPLETE RANGE OF INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS, PROGRAMS, AND EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES OFFERED BY THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. The Assistant Athletic Director will adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations.
  2. The Assistant Director will adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
  3. Assist the transportation department in meeting bus transportation needs for athletic teams and extracurricular activities.
  4. Maintain safety standards per state, federal, and insurance company regulations. Assures compliance with all state laws and regulations for school sports.
  5. Attend appropriate committee, staff, and collaboration meetings.
  6. Communicate regularly with the Athletic Director on progress and problems relative to the athletic program.
  7. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Athletic Director.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Keeps an accurate set of records and documentation deemed necessary for the athletic department.
  2. Complete all reports required by state and federal authorities and the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
  3. Implements operation and safety training programs.
  4. Cooperates with principals and others responsible for planning athletic events.
  5. Acts as liaison with parents concerning complaints and special requests.
  6. Perform other tasks assigned by the Athletic Director or their designee.
  7. Maintain a cheerful attitude.
  8. Ensure working conditions and facilities are as pleasant, safe, and efficient as possible for everyone.
  9. See that buildings and grounds at sports facilities are kept clean and in good repair.
  10. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  11. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, staff, students, parents, and the general public.
  12. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  13. Exhibit qualities of leadership and organizational ability and reflect a spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration.
  14. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.
  15. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both in oral and written form.
  16. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  17. Supervise extra and co-curricular activities
  18. Assist with scheduling/contest confirmation
  19. Game/Event Management/supervision
  20. Finalize bus transportation for Athletic Teams
  21. Assist with Facility upkeep
  22. Understanding of the MSHSAA by-laws and website
  23. Attend Conference and State meetings
  24. Fill out official payment forms and secure payment for officials
  25. Tech Support of scoreboards/controllers as well as sound equipment at our various venues
Essential Functions of the Job:
  1. Must communicate with administrators, teachers, and other staff members.
  2. Must be able to communicate with parents and students.
  3. Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  4. The Assistant Athletic Director frequently works irregular or extended work hours while performing the duties of this job.
  5. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors (outdoors in hot, wet, and cold weather).
  6. Must be able to coordinate with others to provide an effective athletic program.
  7. Must have dexterous use of both hands and be able to operate power tools, hand tools, and mechanical hand tools.
  8. Must understand and follow up on verbal, electronic, digital, or telephone-delivered orders or instructions.
  9. Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
Qualifications:
  1. Valid Teaching Certificate.
  2. Five years of teaching, coaching, or administrative experience.
  3. Actively pursue a class B school bus license with P and S endorsements.
