Qualifications Must be a United States Citizen. Must be 18 years of age. Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver's license. Supplemental Information Works an 8-hour shift, in a uniform assignment in the jail, with 2 consecutive days off on either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift; may be required to work during other than one's assigned shift. Ability to remain calm during stressful situations; ability to communicate effectively with others; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and written materials; ability to maintain accurate records and files; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to perform tasks requiring physical endurance and agility under adverse conditions; ability to solve problems and make on-the-spot decisions; ability to evaluate reports and statistics; ability to maintain order in a potentially hostile environment; knowledge of the techniques and related safety practices for overseeing inmates in a controlled environment; some basic knowledge of technology and computer applications.
