Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or willing to pursue

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Report daily to area/school as assigned by the supervisor.
  2. Perform in an efficient manner the daily cleaning of the assigned section as outlined by the immediate supervisor.
  3. Perform a daily paper pick-up of the entire school grounds at assigned school.
  4. Perform a daily security check of the grounds and facility, ensuring doors and windows are secured and logging the check as directed.
  5. Provide cleaning support of athletic events as required.
  6. Work jointly with the custodial team in the summer months in waxing and general summer cleaning.
  7. Stand ready to assist the school administration as needed or requested.
  8. Perform preventive maintenance and/or minor repairs as needed.
  9. Promptly report all hazardous conditions prevailing in the building or on school grounds.
  10. Promptly report any and all maintenance work requests as identified.
  11. Be responsible for the requisitioning, inventory and use of all needed custodial supplies. Follow prescribed safety methods when using cleaning materials which may include the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  12. Open and close the building (which may include arming and disarming the security system) as directed by the school administration.
  13. Clean, handle, and dispose of any blood borne pathogens or other hazardous waste in accordance with Health Department and District regulations.
  14. Report any unusual occurrence where the health, safety or security of students or staff may be threatened.
  15. Frequently lift and push/pull 20-40 pounds; occasionally lift and push/pull over 40 pounds. Regularly climb, crawl, stoop, and/or bend to perform various jobs.
  16. Occasionally work in inclement weather conditions.
  17. Be a self starter and team player, one who uses time wisely and at times under minimal supervision.
  18. Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations by interacting effectively with and demonstrating respect for the views, rights and contributions of parents, teachers and other school personnel.
  1. Maintain appropriate professional appearance.
  1. Act as a consistent positive public relations agent for school and district programs and activities.
  1. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding individual students and their families.
  1. Implement and adhere to all rules and regulations, policies, administrative guidelines, and directives as adopted by the Board of Education, Principal, Administrative Staff, Superintendent and School Based Decision Making Council.
  1. Maintain acceptable personal attendance without repeated unexcused absences, tardiness, absences without notification, or abuse of sick leave.
  1. Complete any projects assigned in a timely manner.
  1. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Facilities Manager, School administration or Superintendent of Schools.
