Position OverviewAt Hexion, we handle complex business on a daily basis. Our legal team helps ensure the work we do meets risk and compliance standards. As an Associate Attorney, you will play a crucial role in business related matters encompassing various areas of law, including but not limited to corporate governance, M&A activity and compliance. You will be responsible for helping to uphold Hexion's image and maintaining a culture of excellence and professionalism.
Job Responsibilities- Support and work closely with Hexion's legal team and senior leaders on company legal, regulatory and business matters
- Review agreements for accuracy, comprehensiveness, and compliance with business needs and all relevant legal requirements
- Provide legal advice as required
- Work with outside legal counsel as required
- Perform legal research, review and prepare contracts and other legal documentation
- Successful candidates will have 10+ years of experience
- Self-motivated with a high sense of professional ethics and integrity
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actions for the business
- Law degree from an accredited university
- License to practice law in relevant jurisdictions
- Bar membership in good standing
- Attention to detail is a must
- Critical thinker and problem solver
- Professional and courteous demeanor
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced team environment
- Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
- Working knowledge of contracts, transactional and general corporate and business disciplines
- Excellent research skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage a range of legal matters
- Knowledge of national regulations, and general corporate law
- Familiarity with corporate structures
- Understanding of regional regulations and cross-border transactions
