Psychiatrist 2
Duties Description Psychiatrists are an essential part of the Article 16 Clinic behavioral team. They provide comprehensive psychiatric treatment services built on the principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care. As medical doctors, psychiatrists are responsible for ensuring that all services are integrated to promote physical health and recovery. Additionally, as psychopharmacology has become an integral component of modern mental health treatment, psychiatrists serve as primary prescribers.
As a Psychiatrist 2, you will independently diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care and treatment services to assigned individuals; provide clinical supervision and guidance to other medical personnel or clinicians and may supervise and/or manage psychiatric care and treatment services for an assigned facility or program.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Frequently, individuals in the care of OPWDD are diagnosed with a combination of Intellectual, Developmental and Psychiatric disabilities in addition to a variety of medical conditions. As a result, these individuals require the expertise of a specially trained psychiatrist to ensure they can improve and/or maintain their mental health to lead their highest quality of life.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Provide direct clinical services, including psychiatric evaluations, AIMS assessments, and treatment planning to individuals receiving services in the Article 16 Clinic. As a part of this process, communication and collaboration with family members, care-planning teams and outside entities is expected.
• May provide clinic-based psychiatry services to those individuals residing at the Extended Treatment Unit (ETU) and Comprehensive Adult Treatment Home (CATH), including coordinating other treatment and support services for them, as well as function as a collaborating member of the ICF treatment team.
• Communicate and meet with hospital physicians and psychiatrists when necessary.
• Serve in rotation of after-hours telephone on-call duties for psychiatric emergencies.
• Ensure Contemporaneous Electronic Health Record Documentation is completed
• Telehealth, with the provider being clinic based, may be utilized for appointments based on the needs of the individuals served.
• May assist in the development and implementation of agency policies and procedures
• Will participate in Local and Statewide committees and communities of practice. This may include travel within NYS to other OPWDD locations for statewide initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.
