SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Director of Special Services with assistance from the Elementary and Secondary Special Services Coordinators, this extra duty position will lead the instructional and professional development pursuits of the elementary and secondary Speech Pathologists in alignment with the district's goals and objectives. The aim is to ensure equitable speech services for Owasso students. Many duties will need to be performed outside of school hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Facilitates Speech-Language Pathologists' professional learning communities and district initiatives as needed. Some meetings will be outside of school hours.
  2. Identifies and coordinates high-quality resources, transition assessments, and interventions for the secondary and elementary SLPs.
  3. Stay current with best practices, research, and trends in Speech-Language Pathology to inform program development and improvement efforts.
  4. Works with the district Special Services leadership team to facilitate training sessions and professional development opportunities for SLPs to enhance their skills and stay updated on best practices and new research in the field. This could include assisting new SLPs, grant writing, etc.
  5. Provide guidance and support to SLPs in planning and implementing effective intervention strategies to address students' communication needs.
  6. Serves as a liaison between the district Special Services leadership team and district Speech Pathologists, strategically using feedback from them to benefit their area of expertise.
  7. Willingness to learn, collaborate, and engage others in doing the same.
  8. Ability to effectively communicate through oral and written communication
  9. Ability to participate in before/after school meetings
  10. All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  1. Master's Degree
  2. Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Speech-Language Pathology
  3. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
  4. Current contracted Owasso Public School's certified faculty serving as a speech-language pathologist.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication ability; strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies, and laws applicable to education and special education; Ability to follow all district policies and procedures. Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators. Comfortable leading and presenting to a large group of peers. Willingness to learn, collaborate, and engage others in doing the same. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others and demonstrate self-discipline and initiative. Ability to participate in before/after school meetings. Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player. Ability to document records accurately. Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees. Ability to listen effectively.
