Purpose of Position
To maintain proper sanitary levels throughout food preparation, service and storage, and of equipment and working areas. Is knowledgeable of and understands the needs of the resident population.

Description
  1. Executes department practices, procedures, safety regulations, and adheres to all federal, state and local guidelines.
  2. • Maintains required sanitary levels for food and equipment throughout food preparation, service and storage and ensures all food handling and sanitation is in conjunction with local and corporate health and sanitation requirements.
  3. • Assures that the all kitchen areas and all equipment are properly maintained for convenience and safety operating to manufacturer's specifications, reporting and assisting in identifying and correcting problem areas and equipment.
  4. • Assists cook with peeling, prepping and other related duties as requested.
  5. • Receives, follows and ensures that all schedules are followed as outlined by supervisor, demonstrating versatility and /or willing to cover various functions, and shifts, i.e., driving, working weekends and holidays, and during emergencies.
  6. • Develops and maintains a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, and other departments within Heritage, to assure that all functions can be properly planned and maintained to meet the needs of Heritage.
  7. • Participates in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes.
  8. • Adheres to Universal Precautions and Infection Control Policies, including following established hand washing procedures, appropriately using PPE and supplies when handling infectious materials, and following established policies governing the use/disposal of PPE and disposal of infectious wastes.
  9. • Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies, and uses proper mechanics while performing duties (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc. when moving or lifting heavy objects).
  10. • Keeps work area(s) free of trash hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times. Refers to materials safety when necessary and has competent understanding of all chemicals and uses them in accordance with OSHA standards.
  11. • Reports all accidents/incidents to your supervisor.
  12. • Reports to work in compliance with work schedules, maintains proper attendance and punctuality in accordance with Heritage policy, demonstrates versatility and/or willingness to cover various functions and shifts, working weekends and holidays, working beyond normal working hours when necessary, and in other positions when needed.
  13. • Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information and reports known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of said information.
  14. • Drives Heritage vehicle for errands, transportation, or other uses as directed.
  15. • Performs other job-related duties as requested by the Executive Director and/or designee to meet the needs of the residents and the facility.
  16. Consistently provides service excellence to all residents, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Heritage at Falmouth's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.


Qualifications
• High School degree or equivalent
• Experience in food services preferred.
• Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
