About the GRIT Center for Rural Entrepreneurship at Snow College
The GRIT Center for Rural Entrepreneurship at Snow College helps beginning college students accelerate their success by learning how to bootstrap businesses through hands-on entrepreneurial experiences. The acronym GRIT stands for grassroots, resourceful, innovative and tenacious. Programs are open to all majors and include entrepreneurship education, mentoring, networking lunches, business model competitions, startup support, seed funding and more. The GRIT Center is housed in the Snow College Business Building at 151 S. Main Street in Ephraim, Utah.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required or at least five years of experience in business, marketing, event planning or related field.
- Prior experience in starting and running your own business strongly preferred.
- Proven history of planning and carrying out successful live and online events.
- Experience in creating engaging, hands-on educational workshops preferred.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Excitement for engaging with and mentoring college students.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, Google apps (Gmail, drive, forms, YouTube), social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), basic graphic design tools (Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud a plus) and web design and maintenance (Wix)
- Familiarity with current startup methodologies (lean startup, design thinking, agile, etc.) preferred
- Ability to work 1-2 evenings a month (until about 9pm)
- Sense of humor
- Organize and carry out monthly Bootstrap Your Business student pitch night competitions for up to 100 people
- Assist in growing the GRIT Center's impact by creating new, engaging and effective entrepreneurship events and programs that are increasingly student-led
- Measure impact to improve the GRIT Center's fulfillment of Snow College's mission
- Help plan and execute the Everyday Entrepreneur workshop and competition
- Help plan and execute the Snow Down Business Model Competition, and other campus-wide events during Entrepreneurship Week in November
- Create and manage event marketing campaigns including digital and print media to boost event attendance
- Manage the GRIT Center's website (www.thegritcenter.com)
- Promote the GRIT Center's programs and events to increase reach and engagement among students of all majors on both campuses (Ephraim and Richfield)
- Build relationships on behalf of the GRIT Center with Snow College faculty and staff
- Manage GRIT Center social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Mailchimp, Snow College App)
- Write press releases and newsletter articles
- Perform administrative tasks like scheduling campus rooms, placing orders with Food Services, setting up rooms for events, creating registration forms, maintaining the GRIT Center calendar, others as assigned
- Collaborate with the Snow College Marketing Department to achieve goals
- Potentially manage several student employees
- Communicate with, manage relationships with and help plan meetings and events for the GRIT Center Advisory Board
- Regularly attend department, division and other meetings

This is an 11-month, part-time, 25 hour/week position that reports to the Director of the GRIT Center. Hours are flexible and will be determined at the time of hire; however, attendance at GRIT Center events is mandatory. There are no benefits associated with this position.

362 PART-TIME EMPLOYEE PRIVILEGES
April, 1997; Rev/May, 2000 (Effective July 1, 2000)
Definition.
A part-time adjunct faculty member is employed at less than 75% time annually and teaches at least one credit hour or more.
A part-time staff member is employed at less that 75% time annually. The employment time is three continuous months at an average of 15 hours a week.
Student hourly employees are exempt from the part-time privileges of this policy.
Privileges.
Upon authorization by the hiring department, part-time employees as defined under this policy will be issued a Snow College Part-Time Staff/Faculty Identification Card at the time of hire. The card entitles the holder to all of the privileges associated with a Full-Time Staff/Faculty Identification Card including, but not necessarily limited to, general admission or discounted prices for athletic and cultural events; Snow College library card issuance; computer network, Web, and e-mail access; bookstore sponsored discounts; and other discounts associated with the ID card at either campus. Supervisors have the right to terminate the privileges at any time during the fiscal year.
Non-inherent Privileges.
Privileges of full-time employees such as, but not necessarily limited to, college parties or gatherings, professional development activities, office/computer/telephone access, current expense budgets may be provided to part-time employees only at department discretion.
