THE POSITION
The IT Technician at VFXnow is responsible for maintaining the hardware pipeline, from inventory to order management and preparing/testing gear for deployment in a fast-paced environment. This role is critical to the company’s success and must have knowledge of, or extreme eagerness to grow with any form of computer hardware, technology, and creativity.
Please note: This role is required to work on-site daily, operate company vehicles, lift 50lbs+ of hardware equipment, and visit customer sites when required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize, maintain and assemble/image hardware for activated orders in the sales pipeline. This includes the ability to configure all hardware which VFXnow stocks.
- Maintain inventory and rental management software with accurate and real-time adjustments including checking hardware out to the order, cross checking availability and billing.
- Field troubleshooting calls or support customers with presented issues and ability to determine solutions with or without the team’s assistance. This may include phone, email or remote support.
- Manage shipping/receiving with the logistics team for inbound/outbound gear.
- Support the accounting team by providing billables from the rental system or other accounting needs.
- Support our parent company, GPL Technologies, as required. This may include handling logistics (to/from our warehouse), checking available gear, or providing on-site support.
- Assist in the R&D process for future technology or products to help bring new solutions to our customers.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of experience working within the Media & Entertainment industry, rental company, or otherwise in roles with IT support/engineering responsibilities.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with computers, consumer/enterprise storage solutions or networking equipment. Includes the understanding and knowledge of operating systems (Windows/mac OS, Linux is a plus), basic networking (IP, 1G/10G, etc.), and storage such as, HDD/SSD, NVMe, RAID, cluster, etc.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal form both internally and externally with a commitment to high customer standards.
- Base to high level understanding of creative software such as Adobe Creative suite, Maxon suite, Autodesk suite, Unreal, Blender, Nuke, Houdini are a plus.
- Experience in supporting creative workflows, from production to post-production including VFX, editorial, render pipelines, etc. is a plus.
- A key responsibility in this role is moving equipment to and from stock for assembly, testing, and preparation for delivery to customers. Ability to lift 50lbs+ is required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
