Join Leidos in an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineering Lead where you will play a key role in supporting our R&D initiatives. In this position, you will provide critical technical leadership to drive the architecture design, prototype, integration, testing, and demonstration of innovative Open Architecture software. This multi-year program focuses on bringing cutting-edge technologies to life while adhering to mission and operating system standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead technical solution development activities for the program.

  • Engage with customers significantly, presenting solution options and professional recommendations.

  • Utilize standard engineering methodologies and tools for problem-solving, integration, risk assessment, and solution design.

  • Plan, implement, and coordinate User Acceptance testing and software release plans effectively.

  • Create and maintain source code and software applications while applying relevant frameworks for software releases.

  • Oversee the specification, design, development, implementation, and testing of technical products and systems.

  • Drive continuous R&D requirements fulfillment for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Conduct impact assessments and estimates against customer specifications, focusing on technical requirement discovery and analysis.

  • Propose and develop innovative technical solutions and standards to align with operations and strategy.

Basic Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you will need to meet the following:

  • US citizenship is required.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience; or a Master’s with 10+ years of experience.

  • Project scheduling experience using MS Project.

  • Empirical experience in leading and mentoring system engineering teams.

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), issue tracking systems (e.g., Jira), and continuous integration environments (e.g., Jenkins).

  • Prior experience in developing solutions for proposals and responding to RFIs.

  • Solid understanding of Agile development methodologies.

  • Experience across all software development life cycle phases from requirements to testing.

  • Proficient in programming languages like C/C++ and/or Java, along with cross-language and cross-OS programming.

  • Familiar with operating environments, such as Linux and Windows.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse/NetBeans IDEs.

  • Strong knowledge of technical principles and their application across diverse programs.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience supervising technical personnel.

  • Working knowledge of Virtual Machines (such as VMware).

Preferred Qualifications

You will definitely stand out with the following skills:

  • Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Experience in software development in open architectures like Open Mission Systems.

  • Skills in CMAKE, GIT, and shell scripting.

  • Ability to create documentation per DD Form 1423-1 Contract Data Requirements List.

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering.

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies, such as Docker.
