Job Summary & Essential Functions

Build electrical and assemble electrical or electromechanical devices or add components to assemblies using a variety of hardware / tools. Assemblies may include cables, harnesses or chassis modules. Level of complexity may be greater than lower level positions and may include assemblies of unique or unusual design.
  • Wire and solder prototypes and other complex assemblies; wire cabinets and develop cut list
  • Operate a variety of equipment as needed to manufacturing processes and perform maintenance as specified on the preventive maintenance schedule
  • Understand and identify defects in accordance with applicable workmanship standard and class
  • Assist manufacturing engineers to develop assembly instructions and provide information to develop production tooling
  • Assemble prototypes and other complex assemblies of unique or unusual design per customer requirements and suggest changes for improvements
  • Perform verification tests in accordance with assembly instructions
  • Recommend changes in documentation to ensure high quality results
  • Assist in training other employees and provide guidance in following procedures, using equipment and troubleshooting more complex problems
  • OJT (On-the-Job Training) for new hires and other operators
  • Rework and/or repair assemblies as required
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work station
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, specifications, drawings, schematics, process sheets, wiring diagrams, and small print for complex assemblies
  • Ability to use basic hand tools including, but not limited to: dial indicators, torque wrenches, testing devices, etc.
  • Ability to solder and wire assemblies per assembly instructions, production drawings, schematics, ladder diagrams, etc.
  • Able to build electronic assemblies and consoles to requirements including IPC-610 and IPC-620
  • Ability to use wire cutting, stripping, crimping, and potting machines
  • Ability to generate wire cut lists, run lists and harness boards
  • Understand and use hand tools for assembly and to perform verification tests
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow instructions
  • Strong math computation and measurement skills
  • Ability to manipulate and work with tedious and small parts
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to produce quality results
  • Ability to work in a high volume, high detail work environment
  • Ability to problem solve issues involving multiple variables and limited standardization
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects and assignments to meet established goals and deadlines
  • Ability to initiate projects and tasks as required to fulfill goals and deadlines
Required Experience & Education
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant job experience
