Job Summary and Qualifications

As a CVICU Staff Nurse, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while overseeing the work of non-licensed personnel. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting thorough patient assessments upon admission.
  • Developing, updating, and evaluating care and discharge plans based on patient responses.
  • Documenting nursing interventions and patient outcomes.
  • Educating patients and families regarding care and treatment options.
  • Administering medications and treatments according to established protocols.
  • Managing IV fluids and medications, including performing venipuncture.
  • Coordinating care and communicating relevant information to the healthcare team.
  • Providing specialized care for critically ill patients and those requiring advanced monitoring.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of one year as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting. Recent critical care experience is preferred.

Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) is required; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license (Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.
  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certifications are preferred.
