How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?
ALAM's Global Logistics Manager will be the functional expert for international trade compliance and be accountable for monitoring and optimizing global transportation routes, the facilitation of domestic transport efficiencies with sister entities and global standardization and optimization of ALAM's internal and third party warehouse requirements. This person is expected to develop, support, coach and mentor Logistics professionals embedded in
ALAM manufacturing sites across North America and Asia; define & drive process standardization and compliance to standards/requirements globally. All documented logistics procedures that are in place will be reviewed for adherence and areas of improvement, with the Global Logistics Manager
creating procedures (or coaching embedded Logistics Leaders in doing so) to drive the organization
towards best practices in our transportation activities. The individual will oversee performance of
transportation service providers and drive cost efficiencies through improved carrier selection, rates,
routes and other optimization projects.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
International Trade & Compliance Representative (ITCR)
- Act as ALAM's designated ITCR and functional expert for transportation and international trade requirements included but not limited to DOT 49CFR, ICAO/IATA, IMDG, Import/Export License requirements
- Monitor and ensure full compliance to ITC requirements and regulation across the organization
- Develop and/or facilitate necessary training/certification requirements to maintain compliance
- Establish and maintain an ITCR network within ALAM to facilitate compliance and ITC competencies across all (applicable) functional areas
- Audit performance of ALAM manufacturing locations to the above standards and provide necessary support, coaching or development opportunities to achieve required levels of competency and/or compliance.
- Create and maintain KPI's to understand the key performance indicators and drive continuous improvement activities.
- Monitor and optimize global & local transportation routes and associated costs. Includes recommendation of ideal shipping method (air land, sea, etc), routes (global and domestic) and carriers
- Maintain awareness of global transportation activities to alert the organization of potential bottlenecks or delays and recommend preemptive actions to avoid or minimize impact to ALAM product flow (port strikes, closures, incidents, etc)
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of import and export filings, customs transactions, and any other activities needed to ensure effective international shipping
- Support adjacent functions (EHS, Product Management, Customer Service, Sales) with transportation expertise relevant for new product introductions and customer requests
- Establish a network and working relationship with ALAM affiliates, key third party distributors and vendors to foster and facilitate smooth material flow and reliable trade between ALAM and our key partners
- Develop and maintain Logistics procedures to facilitate reliable execution and clear guidance for Logistics resources
- Establish (and optimize) standard overpack requirements for safe and efficient transport of ALAM materials; work closely with packaging and product experts to ensure transportation packages comply with regulatory standards and maintain integrity and quality of the container and contents from origin to destination
- Establish, maintain and manage relationships with carriers, forwarders & internal organizations supporting ALAM requirements
- Manage & investigate transportation claims made by carriers, affiliates, and customers assist in RCA analysis for relevant logistics related issues
- Create and maintain KPI's to understand the key performance indicators and drive continuous improvement activities.
- Define warehousing best practices and standards to drive safety, optimization and efficiency
- Optimize third party warehousing processes, requirements and costs
- Promote & measure efficient material flow and overall warehouse inventory accuracy and availability

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher (Preferably Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or
- Management) or extensive knowledge of Logistics, Distribution & Warehouse management
- 7+ years of Logistics/Warehouse experience preferred
- Highly organized individual with demonstrated ability to learn, collaborative problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and strategic analytical skills
- ASCM certification, certificate (or similar) or the ability to obtain such items within 12 months of hire
- Experience with lean six sigma methodologies, and warehouse management systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated influencing skills to work cross functionally in a matrix environment
- Must be able to visit 3PL warehouses, capable of lifting 50 or less pounds and ability to obtain forklift certification
- Certified in 49 CFR, 15 CFR, DOT, IATA, and IMDG regulations or capable of obtaining required certifications within 12 months of employment
- Capable of acting as a Global Subject Matter Expert relative to Logistics related topics outlined above.
- Experience with specialty or hazardous chemicals
- Exposure to the electronics industry or other high demand environments
- Strong SAP system experience
- Multilingual (English + one or more of the following: Spanish, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean
