Position Function
As working supervisor establish routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building and grounds operations.

Essential Functions

• Establish a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
• Establish procedures for opening and/or closing the building each school day.
• Establish procdures for checking and safeguarding facilities.
• Establish prodedures to regulate heat, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures adn to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
• Supervise and check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
• Develop and maintain a cleaning schedule that will include the cleaning of floors, chalkboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
• Supervise and participate in keeping the school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas neat and clean.
• Develop, supervise, and maintain a safety program for custodians.
• Insure comliance with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash.
• Initiate minor building repairs as needed and report major repairs needed to the supervisor.

Additional Duties
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring a clean, safe work environment.

Equipment

• Uses buffer, scrubber, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater.

Safety Requirements

• Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of duties.
• Wears appropriate safety gear, including masks.
  
  Work Schedules
  Must work standard schedule and overtime as needed.
  
  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to direct, read, write, and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Good oral communication skills.
• Complete knowledge in techniques for minor building repairs.
• Complete knowledge in building and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to operate, maintain, and lift all cleaning equipment.
• Ability to perperly handle cleaning supplies.
• Ability to supervise and train custodians in equipment operations, building and grounds maintenance procedures.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Strenuous walking, standing, and/or climbing; heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold termperatures; exposure to dust, toxic chemicals, and materials; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; work on laddres; work alone or with staff.

Qualifications Profile
High School Diploma or equivalent
3 years experience in building and grounds maintenance or equivalent

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Salary Information:
Minimum hourly rate: $12.41
