The Assembly Technician in a Clean Room Environment is responsible for precise assembly, inspection, and packaging of devices, components, or products in a controlled clean room setting. This role ensures adherence to quality standards, regulatory requirements, and specific clean room protocols. Assemblers play a crucial role in maintaining high production quality and consistency for products used in sensitive environments, such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or microelectronics.

Key Responsibilities:

Assembly and Production:

  • Follow detailed work instructions, schematics, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to assemble and inspect components.
  • Perform tasks such as soldering, adhesive application, and precise component placement, using specialized tools and equipment as required.
  • Monitor equipment and materials for correct functioning and report any issues or deviations promptly to supervisors.
Quality Control and Inspection:
  • Conduct visual and manual inspections of assembled components to ensure they meet stringent quality standards.
  • Identify and document defects or inconsistencies, and work with quality assurance teams to troubleshoot and correct issues.
  • Record data on production processes and quality metrics for traceability and continuous improvement purposes.
Clean Room Protocols and Compliance:
  • Follow clean room entry and exit procedures, including donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gowns, gloves, masks, and hairnets.
  • Maintain a highly sanitized and organized workspace, adhering to clean room protocols to prevent contamination.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize workstations, tools, and equipment as per clean room standards and company policies.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Accurately record production, inspection, and process data in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete necessary documentation for compliance with ISO standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), or other applicable quality frameworks.
  • Report on daily progress, issues, and suggestions for process improvements to supervisors or production leads.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in training sessions on clean room best practices, safety protocols, and process improvements.
  • Suggest and implement process changes that improve efficiency, reduce waste, or enhance quality.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a certificate or technical training in assembly or manufacturing is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a clean room assembly environment, especially in medical device or microelectronics manufacturing, is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional focus on precision and accuracy to assemble intricate components and detect potential defects.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for handling delicate components and tools.
  • Familiarity with clean room protocols, including gowning procedures, sterilization techniques, and contamination prevention.
  • Proficiency in recording data accurately and comprehensively, with a commitment to adhering to compliance requirements.
  • Effective communicator who works well in a team setting, adaptable to a fast-paced production environment.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing repetitive tasks.
  • The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move materials or equipment up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle or touch objects, tools or controls.
  • Physical ability to handle small components and perform manual tasks with precision.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Capacity to work in a clean room environment with required PPE for prolonged periods.
