Village COORDINATOR Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Village Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of the Senior Counselors, Junior Counselors, and volunteers as well as the safety and well-being of all campers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Carries through camp philosophy regarding supervision and administration of both the day camp and overnight camp programs.
- Holds regular meetings with the staff as a whole.
- Organizes, carries through, and evaluates camp wide programs with the Program Coordinator.
- Schedules regularly conferences individual staff members and their evaluations.
- Takes over primes responsibilities in absence of the supervisor, the Program Coordinator.
- Holds all Senior Counselors, Junior Counselors, and volunteers to the program standard.
- Facilitates segments in staff training.
- Ensures during overnight camp, the program is executed each day.
- Complete any other duties deemed necessary by the Program Director.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have completed three years in a resident camp setting or similar training.
- Must have management experience.
- Should have a varied background and experience in camping, aquatics, and working with children.
- Should have a general understanding of the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit - YMCA Camping Services goals and objectives.

- Ability to stand, sit (including on the ground), and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in all physical activities
- Ability to sit and stand from a seated position (including from the ground) when interacting with children.
- Capability to be actively engaging with youth outdoors for the majority of the day.
