The Senior Engineering Technician will be an important member of the engineering team that ensures operational goals are met as measured by Cost, Quality, Delivery and Safety. This role provides support for non-standard repairs requiring root cause troubleshooting or upgrades on key equipment within the production area and facility. They are involved with the design and installation of new equipment with a focus on automation. This role will also focus on safety as it applies to equipment and facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installation & design support of new production machinery and automated tooling/robotics.
  • Continually evaluate production machinery to identify opportunities that maximize machine efficiencies and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in maintaining the equipment management system to ensure compliance and effective group communication.
  • Read and understand production machinery manuals to build knowledge and simplify troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Identify potential safety issues throughout the facility and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Assist with managing inventory of spare parts and supplies needed for plant and facility equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair plant and facility machinery to include water, air, HVAC and electrical.
  • Key member of the safety team and responsible for design/status of equipment as it pertains to safety.
  • Supports an optimized production environment by applying the principles of Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers and maintenance companies to ensure timely and accurate completion of work including safety.
  • Procure spare parts to ensure equipment uptime is achieved and proper inventory is maintained.
  • Assist engineering team with executing IQ/OQ/PQ and testing as required.
  • Execute project tasks as assigned by engineering.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements (Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, etc.)
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic applications.
  • Associate degree or trade certificate preferred.
  • The ability to design and troubleshoot custom automation.
  • The ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Requires basic knowledge of computers and operating systems.
  • Requires strong problem-solving skills to assess equipment operation as it pertains to sensors, controllers, actuators, PLCs, etc.
  • Must have ability to multi-task and to identify and execute process improvements as needed.
