Network Operating Center (NOC) Operators provide the monitoring of network and system security, performance, and backup processes. The NOC Operator will utilize monitoring, alerting and ticketing tools; utilize, maintain and expand the knowledge base; must be able to troubleshoot, report on and escalate issues when necessary. This candidate must understand products, alerting and reporting protocols, be able to follow instructions and procedures, and work well alone and in a team environment.

This position will be for Third Shift at our NOC in downtown Birmingham, AL. Standard work schedule will be 3rd shift (10:00 pm to 7:00 am) Tuesday thru Saturday.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively monitor data and communications networks to ensure 24x7 operation and that systems are available to all users
  • Document and resolve data communications problems
  • Develop and follow troubleshooting procedures in an effort to resolve problems
  • Contact users to correct and maintain operations
  • Escalate problems as needed to tier 2 and 3 support
  • Records daily statistics
  • Open, update, and close trouble tickets
  • Respond to alerts/alarms according to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Manage trouble-ticketing system ensuring accurate and up-to-date information
  • Work with internal and external groups during routine deployment
  • Collaborate with internal and external groups to help identify and resolve issues affecting our services
  • Develop and maintain NOC policies, procedures and tools
Qualifications
  • 6 months previous computer mainframe experience and/or 6 months exposure to Control-M, JAMS, and ServiceNow experience preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems, work independently, and organize work.
  • Knowledge or previous experience using Control-M, App Dynamics or Splunk a plus.
  • Previous NOC experience a plus.
  • Good understanding and experience with monitoring all IT components.
  • Availability to work 3rd shift (10:00 pm to 7:00 am) Tuesday thru Saturday.
  • This is an in-office position.
