Summary:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing all assigned diagnostic pediatric cardiac ultrasound exams, trans-esophageal and cardio-vascular studies in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to physician's orders in the patient's chart or per prescription on outpatients. As a member of the care team, the pediatric cardiac sonographer technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care. In addition, the pediatric cardiac sonographer technologist must be able and willing to cross-train into other appropriate modalities. Assumes responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance. The pediatric cardiac sonographer technologist must be willing to accommodate for emergency situations and available on an on-call basis as scheduled.

POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associates degree or certificate diagnostic ultrasound or a foreign medical degree and applicable training.
• Must be certified by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) with certification in (PE) pediatric echocardiography or eligible for certification.
• BLS certification required
• Cultural and bilingual issues.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English required
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
• Prefer hospital experience

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
• One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting as a pediatric cardiac sonographer
• Able to demonstrate competent levels of cardiac echocardiogram and trans-esophageal echocardiogram procedures.
• Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
• Requires good communication and organizational skills.
• Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
• Requires working with frequent interruptions.
• Must project a professional image.

• Responsible for performing all diagnostic cardiovascular procedures in a timely manner.
• Performs procedures according to physician's orders in the patient's chart or prescription on outpatients.
• As a member of the care team, the pediatric cardiovascular sonographer technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care.
• In addition, the pediatric cardiac sonographer must be able and willing to cross-train into other appropriate modalities.
• Assumes responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.
• Performs at a proficient level, all tasks within the specialty area.
• Able to operate all appropriate clinical equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility's computer system
• Other duties as assigned.

•B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
