What Are We Looking For? 

Mental Health Specialist/Behavioral Health Technician with experience working in behavioral health, and addiction/substance abuse treatment facility is required. The Mental Health Specialist is responsible for providing supportive services to mental health patients and is a participating member of the collaborative interdisciplinary treatment team to help assist in the mental health care of the people served.   

This position requires constant observation and documentation of patient behaviors for clinical evaluation.   Mental Health Specialists work under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Director. 

This position is for Wednesday through Friday overnight 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Qualifications:

  • Current CPR Certification or must be obtained
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training must be obtained 
  • Valid Florida Driver's License 
  • Be at least 21 years of age to drive company vehicles, if required
  • Certification or associate degree in behavioral health
  • Experience working in a mental health institution or psychiatric facility

Essential Job Functions include: 

  • Assists the nursing staff in the responsibility for the day-to-day processing of new admissions in triage in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Serves as a support for patients entering treatment in the facility.
  • Observes all patient activity, maintains a visible presence on the patients in and outside the campus, and circulates throughout the treatment center's facility.
  • Assists patient's daily activities and ADL's, as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients and the treatment team, documenting pertinent observations to support the treatment team and assist the patient.
  • Recognizes and responds to crises and provides appropriate interventions.
  • Supervises patients while they are unpacking/packing
  • Maintains orderly conduct of patients, ensuring the safety of all patients.
  • Conducts searches of patient property and removes all contraband.
  • Observe urinalysis exams.
  • Transport patients to and from the emergency room and/or doctor's appointments when necessary using company vehicles.
