Job Summary: The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), under the supervision of the Director of Respiratory Services, Technical Supervisor, and Shift Supervisors, is responsible for providing and administering all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide respiratory therapy under medical direction, including the education, treatment, management, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
- Assist with intubation and manage ventilator setup and maintenance.
- Gather all necessary information to properly evaluate patient needs, including disease education, testing, and consultations with other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
- Develop rapport and mutual respect with patients, caregivers, and team members to create an optimal environment for achieving goals.
- Provide and document patient and caregiver education based on identified needs in an understandable manner.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
- Adhere to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Physically capable of lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing for at least 1 hour per day.
- Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing patient needs.
- Strong sense of accountability for improving patient lives and supporting their caregivers.
- Exceptional teamwork skills and a strong patient-focused approach to delivering high-quality care.
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy.
- Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Current and valid New Jersey Respiratory Care license.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
- English (Speak, Read, Write)
Schedule Notes:
- 13-week contract.
- Shift: 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, 3x12-hour shifts.
- Active NJ Respiratory Care license required.
- Every other weekend required.
- Holidays required.
- 1+ year of recent experience as a licensed RRT required.
- 1+ year of ICU experience required.
- Previous experience with ventilators required.
- BLS and RRT license required; PALS and ACLS highly preferred.
- Ventilator to patient ratio: 6:8.
- Must be willing to float to adult ICU areas, intermediate care, and basic intermediate care floors.
