Job Description:

- Unit: Preop/PACU
- Preop contains 10 beds; PACU contains 4 beds
- Handles Phase 1 and Phase 2 patient recovery
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: Preop 1:1 for admissions or up to 5:1 for discharges; PACU 1:2, unless airway, then 1:1
- Common cases include: orthopedic procedures (hips, knees, shoulders), ortho spine, TLIF, hernias, lap chole, OB, GYN, hysteroscopy, hysterectomy, urology, cysto, prostate, and ENT (including pediatric procedures like tubes, tonsils, adenoids), endoscopy
- Required to use Meditech EMR
- Charge nurse present for both PACU and outpatient, typically without a patient assignment
- Coordinator available as needed
- RNs are required to read ECG strips
- Experience with equipment including no vents; patients on vents proceed directly to ICU
- ICU patients are not recovered in the PACU

Additional Information:
- Charge nurses are available for both PACU and outpatient, with no routine patient assignments
- Potential future addition of nurse aids on the unit
