The position of English Language Learner Program Coordinator, first, and foremost, tutors EL students. In addition, the position involves overseeing the EL Program for the district. This includes but is not limited to the supervision of EL assistant teachers, scheduling tutoring sessions, communicating with parents, teachers, and administrators, as well as ensuring adherence to the Mississippi English Learner Guidelines.

The EL Coordinator will report to the Federal Programs Director.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Oversee district EL (English Lerner) program (K-12) as well as EL teachers/assistants
• Schedule tutoring sessions for all EL students K-12
• Write Language Service Plans for all EL students
• Hold meetings with parents regarding EL services
• Attend and provide training for staff for ELPT (English Language Proficiency Test)
• Administer ELPT assessments for grades K-12 (includes placement tests and benchmark assessments)
• Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators throughout the district
• Keep current and correct data on all EL students district-wide

• Experience with students whose native language is one other than English is preferred
• Able to communicate with teachers and administrators on both the school and district level
