Summary: Operate Class 8 Tractor Trailer in a safe and efficient manner in a variety of different situations. ** this position is located in Elyria Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Operate Class 8 Tractor Trailer pulling lowboy and stepdeck Load/unload heavy equipment and material correctly and efficiently Be able to secure heavy equipment and material to trailer per federal load securement regulations Deliver equipment and materials to company job sites as directed. Pick-up and deliver heavy equipment and materials to jobsites from vendors as directed. Perform visual inspections and note conditions of vehicles driven using the "Vehicle Inspection Checklist". Ensure all safety guidelines are followed Education and Experience: Experience with heavy equipment hauling Have a class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements High school diploma or GED equivalent Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be able to safely and efficiently maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions Must be able to back trucks and trailers safely and proficiently Must be capable of operating the assigned truck in a safe manner so as not to jeopardize his safety, the safety of others around him and all other related equipment Must be able to drive a truck with a clutch Must be able to strap and secure items loaded on truck Must be able to maintain high level of awareness for a busy project work environment Must be able to stoop and bend as required Must be able to maintain physical strength and stamina Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds Must be able to coordinate the movements of eyes, hands, and feet Must be able to use arms, hands, and legs fully Must be able to maintain three points of contact while entering, exiting, or inspecting equipment Must be able to sit for long periods in equipment while traveling over rough terrain Must be able to do a competent inspection of the truck including fluids Must be able to understand directions/instructions on methods/process to do work Must have basic knowledge of proper operating procedures of multiple types of trucks Must have a valid drivers license Benefits: Kokosing offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, life, and disability insurance, paid time off and a 401K plan.
