A well-established retail company is seeking an experienced Controller to join the team Preferred Pay: $170K Location: SE Portland 97214 Length: This will be a direct hire/permanent role WHAT YOU NEED: ✔ Bachelor's- must be in accounting or finance ✔ 7+ YOE in accounting, with experience managing 3+ direct reports ✔ Experience with in-the-weeds GL accounting ✔ Experience working for a company with $100M+ revenue ✔ SOX experience, US or international is fine ✔ Strong experience with Excel- most of their reporting is all done in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, report creation, macros) ✔ Multi entity/unit ideal, retail would be perfect-they produce individual P&Ls for each store, then each entity, then consolidated reporting for the parent company- coming from a company where there are multiple revenue streams would be important- they have 10+ units ✔ Need to have experience with lease accounting and fixed assets- just understanding the process- they do not have a lease accounting software, this is done manually What You Will Be Doing: Manage all aspects of AP, AR, and Payroll Play a key role in the month-end close process including posting journal entries and completing bank reconciliations Issue financial statements and corporate annual report Make recommendations according to company performance Create financial and operating metrics Manage annual budget and forecasts Perform variance analysis Analyze capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations Provide information to external auditors annually Ensure local, state, and federal government reporting and tax filings are in compliance Manage all aspects of lease and fixed asset accounting Implement and enforce policies and procedures in accordance with US GAAP Maintain efficient accounting department organization necessary to achieve department goals and objectives Oversee all accounting functions for multiple subsidiaries Work Environment: Overall casual environment, laid back A culture fit would be a manager who likes being in the weeds and wants to elevate the team, hard-working, strong work ethic, effective communicator About Aston Carter: Aston Carter provides world-class corporate talent solutions to thousands of clients across the globe.
