Function as an independent professional and service provider. Support otolaryngology physicians during daily patient schedules; see patients referred from other providers and patients needing hearing aids services. Determine type and degree of hearing impairment and implement habilitation and rehabilitation services. Perform and interpret electrophysiological testing including intra-operative and sedated ABR at Duly surgical center. Bring new testing modalities and technology to the practice to enhance standard of care.

The Journeys and Adventures that Await:
  • Function as an independent professional and service provider. Support otolaryngology physicians during daily patient schedules; see patients referred from other providers and patients needing hearing aids services.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret a variety of tests such as air and bone conduction and speech reception and discrimination tests to determine type and degree of hearing impairment, site of damage and effects on comprehension and speech.
  • Evaluate test results in relation to behavioral, social, educational and medical information obtained from patients, families, teachers, speech pathologists and other professionals to determine communication problems related to hearing disability. Refer to physician as appropriate.
  • Schedule, administer and interpret electrophysiological testing including ABR, ENG/VNG, ECOG, OAE, and ASSR testing to assess central hearing ability and inner ear function. Perform intra-operative and sedated ABR at Duly surgical center. Bring new testing modalities and technology to the practice to enhance standard of care.
  • Plan and implement prevention, habilitation or rehabilitation services including hearing aid selection, orientation, counseling and programming.
  • Provide earmold fitting for purposes of hearing protection and water protection.
  • Responsible for the operation, maintenance and calibration of all audiological equipment. Order supplies and materials for departmental needs.
  • Act as a consultant to educational, medical, legal and other professional groups.
  • Maintain continuing education requirement of 20 CEU hours every 2 years in compliance with the mandate for professional licensure.
  • Perform other projects and duties as related to department objectives.
Qualifications

The Experiences You Bring:
  • Au.D. or Master's Degree in Audiology. Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-A) required if supervising student externs.
  • Must have current licensure from the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation, and possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (if Master's prepared) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, for the purpose of student supervision.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical audiology experience preferred. Will consider recent graduate.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential to prioritize daily work.
  • Proficient in NOAH software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proficient keyboarding skills including speed and accuracy
  • Previous experience with an EMR preferred
