Network Technician

Our client, a fortune 100 Credit Union, is looking to add a Network Technician to their Network Operations team in Vienna, VA to work FULL TIME onsite.

Description
We are hiring for 4 positions within the Network Operations team:

  • 2 Day Shift positions (6:00 AM ET - 6:00 PM ET)
  • 2 Night Shift positions (6:00 PM ET - 6:00 AM ET)
Shift Details:
  • 12-hour rotating shifts, rotating every two weeks.
  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM ET - 6:00 PM ET
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM ET - 6:00 AM ET
  • Weekly Schedule:
    • Week 1: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
    • Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
All positions require onsite work at Headquarters, Vienna, VA.

Basic Purpose of the Position

Provide 24x7 technical support for our client's enterprise systems and networks to ensure continuous availability. Maintain the stability and integrity of network services by monitoring, troubleshooting, escalating, and resolving incidents and problems. Collaborate with vendors to address system outages or performance issues.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor network performance and identify trends to ensure optimal system availability.
  • Use monitoring tools such as LogicMonitor, Moogsoft, and SolarWinds to oversee system health.
  • Respond to alerts and alarms, troubleshoot issues, and resolve or escalate as needed.
  • Create and manage tickets using a service management application; monitor ticket queues for timely resolution.
  • Collaborate with other ETS teams and vendors to resolve outages or performance degradation.
  • Contact global vendors and contractors (e.g., telephone carriers, equipment/service providers) for joint troubleshooting efforts.
  • Update and document technical procedures and workflows.
  • Maintain, configure, and perform preventative maintenance on network equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and provide support based on business needs.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of enterprise systems and networking concepts and terminology.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN topologies, protocols, and standards, including but not limited to T1, T3, Metro Ethernet, TCP/IP, SDLC, RS232, and BGP.
  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and following policies, procedures, and technical instructions.
  • Proven dependability, productivity, and accuracy in administrative or technical roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with service management tools and experience creating and resolving incident tickets.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Capacity to manage urgent problems, deadlines, and shifting priorities under pressure.
Desired Skills and Certifications
  • Candidates are required to be legally authorized to work in the United States without a sponsoring employer indefinitely. We can only accept the following: US Citizens, GC EAD, GC Holders, TN Visas.
  • This is a W2 CONTRACT we can NOT do Corp to Corp arrangements.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent training and experience.
  • Certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
  • Experience with SD-WAN, including remote site conversions and troubleshooting in a Cisco environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Navy Federal operations is a plus.
  • Advanced skills in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Experience presenting technical solutions or recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of the interdependencies between software/hardware and desktop/LAN/host systems.
