GENERAL SUMMARY: Position dimensionally inspects castings to established requirements; decides if castings conform to dimensional requirements and are acceptable for further processing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assure that castings are in a condition suitable for inspection, verifies that paperwork is complete and matches casting.
- Establish an order that ensures all required dimensions are checked.
- Inspect castings with all types of measuring devices as required such as micrometers, calipers, dyers, etc.
- Communicates inspection results by marking casting and filling out travelers, rework travelers and discrepancy tags.
- Safely operates all equipment and tools; adheres to safety rules and report safety problems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Requires a thorough knowledge of inspection principles.
- Must be competent in all types of measuring devices.
- Strong blueprint reading and math skills are required.
- Must have the ability to work closely with engineering and management.
- Must be able to work varying shifts and overtime.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Strong inspection background is preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read reports and use computer.
- Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers.
- Must be able to stand to open files and operate office machines; mobility between departments and to attend meetings of employees and managers.
- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling.
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing.
- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling.
PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS:
Ability to exert up to thirty-five pounds of force to move objects. Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
