Pharmacy Technician

Description:
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for taking in-coming calls from members, providers, etc. providing professional phone assistance to all callers through the criteria based prior authorization process. Maintains complete, timely and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials, and transfers all clinical questions and judgment calls to the pharmacist.
What You Will Do:
Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
- Selects, prepares, and packages medications and supplies in preparation for shipment to patients.
- Performs record keeping functions.
- Assists in various inventory control processes.
- Selects, picks, packages and labels medications and ancillary supplies per prescriptions.
- Accurate counting of medications utilizing a manual process as well as any automated counting devices (EYECON).
- Exercise proper hands sanitization and hazardous medication handling practices.
- Performs functions &/or responsibilities of an Operations Assistant as needed.
- Responsible for preparing and/or restocking the filling station with medications and/or supplies as needed.
- Responsible for cleaning all pill counting devices/equipment and general working areas.
- Take Inbound calls from member and providers providing professional phone assistance to all caller through the criteria based prior authorization process.
- Maintain complete, timely, and accurate documentation of all approvals and denials.
- Maintains complete, timely and accurate during the prescription filling process.
- Transfer all clinical questions and judgement call to the pharmacist.
- Complete additional duties as needed.
- 1 year of customer service experience within the healthcare industry.
- Advanced computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet utilization.
- Excellent customer service skills (written and verbal) a must.
- At least 1 year experience as a pharmacy technician coordinating activities in an administrative support function.
- National pharmacy technician certification. Eligible for state registration, certification, or licensure per state regulations.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum (1) year experience required in a customer service position with high volume call center experience; preferably in healthcare, social services, or a similar service position.
