Project

Refactor & migration project for a vendor product

Currently have about 30 jobs running - calling vendor utilities, APIs, shared services, etc. to run different processes like alerts, provisioning users, receiving files

Day to Day:

Coding processes, interfacing processes with other Client services, refactoring Python scripts

Onboarding new AWS accounts for each environment/service

Calling/Consuming Java utilities/APIs

Investigate Jenkins logs to understand where jobs may be running into errors (not building new pipelines)

Credential/Secrets management - provisioning users, passwords, etc.

May need to support some application infrastructure

Must Haves:

Python & PowerShell scripting - not necessarily writing new scripting, but refactoring existing scripts & migrating them to Redwood (new platform for job scheduling)

AWS - RDS, S3, EC2, Route 53, IAM/Security Groups - need to be able to troubleshoot and dig in when something isn't working properly

Credential Management - Secret Manager in AWS, Key Vault in Azure, or something similar

Description:

Seeking an experienced Platform Engineer who has expertise in design, development and setting up highly available applications in Cloud.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of AWS cloud and its services, networking, security, and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools. Expertise in software development practices and scripting languages.

Objectives of this role

Identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the application aligned to the Enterprise objectives

Define best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance

Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards for code quality and thoughtful design

Responsibilities

Develop and implement tooling and batch scripting to build and deploy region & environment independent application processing [PS, Shell, Python] in AWS Cloud and work with DevOps pipeline leveraging Infrastructure as Code

Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including planning, requirements, development and quality assurance

Configure monitoring, alerting, dashboarding for job & application

Document runbooks/playbooks, procedure for failover/failback

Vulnerability remediation for application & infrastructure components to align with Enterprise Guideline

Troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures

Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity

Required skills and qualifications

Three or more years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing application solutions on AWS platforms

Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of the AWS well-architected framework

Experience in several of the following areas: CI/CD pipelines, Oracle PL/SQL experience, SOAP & Restful API Services, PowerShell, Python.

Setup and Configuration of AWS Services like Security Groups, S3, EC2, ALB, Autoscaling, IAM roles, KMS, SNS, Lambda, Route 53

Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of application architect, developers, data engineers, and subject-matter experts

Experience with SAFe Agile

Preferred skills and qualifications

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, or mathematics

Knowledge of web service technologies, test automation.

AWS certification and DevOps

Education: Bachelors Degree
