SUMMARY:

A Warehouse Person performs a wide variety of duties to pack, pick, receive, ship, stock and maintain inventory records.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • Work from pick slips, shipping or receiving documents and data terminal to maintain accurate inventories and ship products on a timely basis.
  • Receive customer orders for shipment by UPS, common carrier, mail, air, or freight express services.
  • Responsible for picking and processing special type orders, including but not limited to: Naval, Government, Nuclear and others where special attention is needed while packaging the order.
  • Select stock from picking orders and place in holding area.
  • Pack complete orders and move to audit areas.
  • Use data terminal to research orders from manufacturing for completion.
  • Move and place finished goods to inventory locations.
  • Receive incoming stock, returns and material deliveries.
  • Check for accuracy of items, quantities, and damages.
  • Load and unload trucks as needed.
  • Weigh packages enter freight in logs or data terminal, label, and place in appropriate pick-up areas.
  • Expedite rush and priority orders.
  • Review back orders and postdated orders for shipments.
  • Use data terminal for inventory, order, and customer information.
  • Select cartons, packing and labeling to ensure security of products in transit.
  • Build skids, crates, boxes, and export packages.
  • Inspect products for defects before replenishment and shipping.
  • Report unusual conditions to supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Operate forklift truck, bander, stapler, stitcher, wrapper, etcher, data terminal and
  • use small hand tools and hand trucks and carts.
  • Observe all company policies and regulations including safety, housekeeping,
  • and quality of work with support of ISO procedures and standards.
  • Utilize individually and/or further the use of total quality concepts, tools, and
  • techniques to support continuous quality improvement in all processes in which
  • the position participates with a positive "Can Do" attitude.
  • Support, encourage and maintain a positive team working atmosphere throughout
  • the company.
  • Perform other duties as requested or necessary to meet business conditions and
  • changes.
QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be

able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below

are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE -
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years

related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and

experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and

memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present

information in one-on-one situations to customers and other employees of the

organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole

numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and

percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished

in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several

concrete variables in standardized situations.
