Position Summary:

The Design Engineer position requires candidates to have a detail-oriented mindset that assists in their creation of technical drawings. These CAD based drawings include permit drawings, manufacturing drawings, installation drawings and electrical layouts. Design Engineers, at Cima, regularly reference site plans, architectural packages, and survey information to make informed decisions in the detailing of these signage drawings. Previous industry knowledge and experience is desired, but candidates with similar industry experience in architecture, fabrication/manufacturing, industrial design, etc. will be considered. As a member of the Design Engineering department, you will collaboratively work with Brand Designers, Project Management, Shop Employees, and Installation Employees, so strong communication skills are required. An open mind and willingness to learn is a fundamental requirement of this position. This position is open to full in-office and hybrid (partial in-office) schedule candidates.

Primary Duties:

  • Utilize CAD (Computer Aided Design) to create technical drawings for all aspects of the Sign Design Process (Permits, Manufacturing/Fabrication, Installation and Service).
  • Assistance in maintaining client standards from a technical perspective.
  • Utilize, monitor, and input information into our Design Request System for drawing completion updates.
  • Collaborate with various departments in a variety of ways/applications/scenarios with Cima's best interest in mind.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • High attention to detail in reference to drawing creation and client standards implementation.
  • Solutions-oriented engagement with company members and project stakeholders.
  • Time Management - Tasks listed above should be done in a timely, friendly, and positive manner.
  • Utilize various forms of communication to keep project stakeholders up to date with project developments.
Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 1-5+ years sign industry experience
  • An Undergraduate Certificate (Associates or Bachelors) or Trade Certification in a relevant area of study is requested but not required.
  • Knowledge of 2D and/or 3D CAD programs.
  • Cima currently utilizes CorelDraw as its primary platform for both Brand Design and Design Engineering. Programs such as: Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, SketchUp, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc. may be used on an as needed basis.
  • Ability to communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to optimize your time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.


Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle controls (keyboard, phone); and talk or hear. Occasional standing, walking, stooping is required. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds. Closed toed shoes are required due to access and engagement on the shop floor.

Travel Requirements:

The position may require travel for client engagement, site visits, or vendor visits. Adequate communication in reference to travel will be provided prior to travel.
