Job Description

General Description:

The Asbestos Abatement Technician position constructs containments, removes ACM, manages waste stream, and performs lead/asbestos related abatement activities in full compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Essential Duties Job Functions:

  • Comply with all safety, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift.
  • Build containment areas prior to beginning abatement or decontamination work.
  • Removal and disposal of asbestos material, which may include but is not limited to, floor tile, gaskets, friable and wallboard.
  • Lead paint removal and disposal
  • Document all the abatement process and chain of custody paperwork for proper disposal in accordance with regulations.
  • Follow project plans and schedules while maintaining a safe environment by verifying all tools and materials required for the job are available and inspected.
  • Prioritizing tasks and review/adjust workforce activities and task schedules.
  • Maintain 100% “Compliance Readiness” in all areas of mandatory/regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas of mandatory/regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and strong working relationships with co-workers and client representatives.
  • Ability to relate to and work with personnel in all levels of an organization required.
  • Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI Industrial Services while on shift, on call or attending training.
  • Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
    • Compliance with required HSE Training.
    • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
    • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
    • Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
    • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
    • Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA/JHA reviews, pre-job walks downs and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
    • Promote and participate in Behavior Based Safety as well as programs that promote continuous improvements (CI).
  • Communicate daily status of current projects to the Superintendent to ensure all projects are timely and within company standards.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, exercises, and drills.
  • Assist others on non-ACM project’s needs, when appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic computer experience, including the ability to take online training, email general reports and use Microsoft Word.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certified
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh conditions indoors and outdoors, remote locations and diversified personalities.
  • Ability to clearly speak, write, read, and understand the English language.
  • Clear knowledge of CCI safety programs and environmental issues.
  • Ability to perform job functions using a respirator (half and full face).
Work Environment:
  • This position, while on shift the employee may be required to work 7 days per week 12 hours per day.
  • Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet the demands of the job in an Industrial or Construction Environment.
  • Noise Level: Noise exposure is usually moderate to very loud, frequently requiring the use of ear protection.
  • Weather Exposure: The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Hard-toe safety footwear (provided by employee), hard hat and safety glasses and all other PPE is always required while working and is provided by CCI Industrial Services.
  • Hazardous Materials Exposure: Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
Contingencies:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the physical requirements of this position via the successful completion of a Fitness for Duty Evaluation.
  • Negative results in a pre-employment drug test (UA)

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current 40 Hour Asbestos Certification.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Current Asbestos physical including respirator fit test and audiogram.
  • 2 years abatement experience
  • TWIC Certified
Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting to 50lbs,
  • Pushing/pulling up to 50lbs,
  • Carrying up to 50lbs,
  • Shoveling up to 20lbs,
  • Frequent walking and standing,
  • Occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching.
