The Manufacturing Engineer I develops and improves manufacturing processes by studying product and manufacturing methods.

  • Evaluates and develops manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators

  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, equipment layout, and workforce utilization

  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes

  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements

  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends

  • Maintains and complies with government product regulations

  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service

  • Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs; entering data

  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods

  • Leads efforts to reduce set-up time and increase throughput to achieve and sustain 95% OTD through the use of deployment and strategic business growth

  • Promote and facilitate shop floor work flow analysis and creating/implementation of standard work to achieve improvement priorities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • 2+ years relevant work experience

  • Team work, presentation, project management, and verbal/written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to lead, train, and drive change

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and work in a fast-paced environment
