Job Title: Backup Engineer

Responsibilities of the Backup Engineer
At EDC Consulting LLC (EDC), we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backup Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is designed for a professional specializing in enterprise backup solutions, focusing on supporting the U.S. Army.

The Backup Engineer will:
  • Develop an enterprise-level backup solution utilizing Veritas NetBackup for all sites within the entire AECC environment.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for the deployment and sustainment of the NetBackup enclave in the AECC.
  • Configure and administer backups within the hosted customer enclaves as new applications are hosted on the AEPC solution.
  • Provide daily administration of the NetBackup tools, including patching and upgrading.
  • Monitor utilization of backup resources and notify the AECC lead when additional resources are required.
  • Harden NetBackup products per commercial best practices and required government cybersecurity controls.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of any backup-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain system, infrastructure, and process documentation (system diagrams, network topology, software configurations, device configurations, standard operating procedures).
  • Provide on-call support for triage and resolution of after-hours production incidents.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to security, scalability, manageability, and performance across a wide variety of network, storage, and compute services and technologies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 12+ years of experience or Master's Degree with 10+ years of hands-on experience.
  • Senior-level experience with the NetBackup suite of products in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with NetBackup in a multi-site deployment.
  • Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack - network, storage, server, and applications.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certified
  • Active DOD Security Clearance
