Location: American Health Network, a Part of Optum: 3631 N. Morrison Muncie IN 47304

Schedule: Monday - Friday between 7am-6pm / No evenings, weekends, or holidays

Specialty: Family Practice

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Prepare examination rooms and sterilizing equipment

  • Room patients, obtain health history, check vital signs and perform EKG’s

  • Administer injections and collect specimens

  • Document patient care using NextGen electronic medical record software

  • Schedule appointments, complete prior authorizations, process medication refills, handle referrals, answer calls and complete paperwork

  • Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with minor, in-office procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA or RMA) or you must be willing to attain that certification within 9 months of start date

  • Medical Assistant diploma, technical certificate or certification OR 1+ years of experience performing the critical skills of a medical assistant after on-the-job training OR Current enrollment in an accredited medical assistant training program OR Active EMT certification accredited

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR certification

  • Additional healthcare certifications including ARRT, CEHRS, CBCS, CMAA, CPT

  • EMR/EHR experience

  • Experience working as a Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician

  • Experience with NextGen medical record software

  • Experience with medical front office and back office duties including vitals, phlebotomy, injections, casting/splinting, administering medications, referrals, prior authorizations, and insurance verifications
