Contract Quality Engineer

Certification Requirement: IATF 16949 Compliance, AIAIG Core Tools.
The Contract Quality Engineer (QE) will play a pivotal role in enhancing quality standards within the company, engaging directly with both internal teams and external customers. You will manage 8D reports associated with customer complaints and collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality benchmarks. Your focus will include driving initiatives aimed at reducing scrap and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, you will monitor KPIs, develop action plans, and ensure all relevant metrics stay on track throughout your projects.
Key Responsibilities
- 8D Reporting & Customer Complaint Management: Assist in the completion of ongoing 8D reports for both internal and external customers, coordinating with Production, Supplier Quality, and Engineering teams to effectively address root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Supplier Quality Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and implement supplier corrective actions as necessary.
- Internal & Plant Quality Engineering Support: Provide technical assistance to resolve internal quality challenges, driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance scrap reduction and First Pass Yield (FPY).
- KPI Monitoring & Action Plan Development: Monitor key quality performance indicators, developing strategic action plans to meet quality objectives.
- Customer Interactions: Serve as a point of contact for customer quality issues, facilitating effective communication and coordination during meetings to provide updates on quality status.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation and records of quality activities, preparing regular reports for the Quality Manager detailing quality performance, open 8D statuses, and KPIs.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (preferably in Quality, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering).
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a quality engineering role, preferably within the automotive industry or Tier 1 supplier environment.
- Certifications: Experience with IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001 certifications is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, FMEA, root cause analysis, and corrective action development, along with familiarity with quality monitoring tools (e.g., SPC, Minitab).
