Description

PacAero/Litron is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Plating Process Engineer to join our engineering team. This role plays a key part in optimizing plating processes and ensuring product quality within the plating department. The ideal candidate will support process development, documentation, and maintenance while adhering to safety and quality standards. Additionally, the successful candidate will have a solid understanding of analytical methods such as solution analysis, XRF, and spectroscopy, along with basic mechanical knowledge that will aid in troubleshooting plating equipment and assisting with temporary setups when necessary.

Requirements

  • Manage, develop, and troubleshoot plating processes to ensure acceptable product quality is manufactured in a timely manner. Achieve First Pass Yield Targets to minimize rework/scrap %.
  • Develop maintenance and cleaning standards for plating operations.
  • Assist in planning, directing, and guiding the scheduling function for the Plating Department.
  • Support the development of new ideas to increase productivity, enhance product quality, and reduce rejects in plating.
  • Perform plating operations and maintain chemical analyses of plating solutions and wastewater effluent as required.
  • Ensure proper documentation of processes and maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in chemical tank maintenance and monitor wastewater treatment processes.
  • Conduct research and development projects as assigned by the Plating Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Support the Plating Manager with any issues that may affect the company's well-being.
  • Train and coach plating operators and technicians as required.
  • Attend or conduct meetings as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Plating Manager.
  • Utilize analytical methods, such as solution analysis, XRF, and spectroscopy, to evaluate and interpret plating processes and results. Familiarity with these techniques is crucial, but hands-on experience with each method is not mandatory.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is beneficial, as plating equipment may require troubleshooting or temporary setups. While in-depth mechanical expertise is not required, familiarity with mechanical systems will help in addressing equipment failures or plating project needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years of experience in plating processes, preferably with electroless Ni and Gold.
  • High attention to detail and follow-up skills required.
  • Ability to obtain a Massachusetts industrial wastewater treatment license if necessary.
  • Familiarity with analytical methods, such as solution analysis, XRF, and spectroscopy.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and assist with temporary setups for plating equipment when needed.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees and respond to customer and supplier inquiries.
  • Proficiency in using computers and associated software.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and crouching.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods, handle computer equipment, and perform tasks requiring the use of hands and full-body movement. Good vision is required for close inspection and working with microscopes.
  • The position is primarily indoors but in a non-climate-controlled environment. Occasional travel may be required in various weather conditions.
