The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) may also known as Speech Therapist (ST) assesses and treats speech and language disorders and impairments of our Alivia Home Health patients. The Therapist will conduct evaluations of an individual's speech and language skills using relevant diagnostic materials and tools. This position will collaborate in case conferences to determine the most effective therapies for the participant. S/he will collaborate to develop treatment plans and utilize appropriate intervention approaches, strategies, and materials. They will establish treatment priorities that include advising, education, evaluations, and counseling patients.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides speech therapy services in accordance with the plan of care as determined by the interdisciplinary team
  • Evaluates participant level of functionality
  • Assists in the development of the therapy plan of care
  • Observes, evaluates, records, and reports on the patient's progress
  • Participate in organizational committees as identified that enhance the working relationships between departments within Alivia Home Health
  • At all times, represent Alivia Home Health professionally through care and/or services provided to all clients and patients
  • Comply with Alivia Home Health policies, procedures, and standard practices
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patients and families withinAlivia Home Health as per government mandates
  • Use resources in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Improve own professional knowledge and skill level
  • Additional duties, as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:

Education/Training/Certifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech Pathology, or related field
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
  • Active Florida Speech-Language Pathologist license
  • Current Florida driver's license and active auto insurance
  • Current CPR certification
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years working as a Speech Therapist
  • Minimum of 1 year working with the frail and elderly
  • Minimum of 1 year working with those with dementia
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated skills reflecting knowledge of speech therapy
  • Experience in restorative and rehabilitation strategies to improve speech
  • Current knowledge of geriatric issues and best practices
  • Good judgment, problem-solving and cognitive skills
  • Ability to lead and work within an interdisciplinary setting
  • Enthusiasm for caring for the geriatric population
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards for the speech and language impaired and recommend improvements to establish a safer environment
