Sub Acute Licensed Vocational Nurse

The Sub Acute Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) performs a wide variety of patient care activities under the direction of registered nursing personnel. Responsibilities include participating in the planning of patient care, administering medications within scope of practice, assisting with ADL's, taking patients' vital signs, and recording results on patients' charts. Additionally, the nurse assists with examinations, procedures, and treatments, and ensures medication management according to policy.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer patient medications, including basic IV management, and participate in treatments and procedures in a safe, effective, and age-appropriate manner.
  • Assist patients with hygiene, elimination, routine skin care, comfort measures, and other Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
  • Perform assigned nursing duties for the safety, comfort, and well-being of patients, and accurately measure and record vital signs.
  • Empathize with patients, express compassion and understanding, and demonstrate culturally appropriate care.
  • Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, under the direct supervision of an RN/Physician.

Requirements:

  • Active, current, and unencumbered Licensure as a Vocational Nurse in the State of California
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Vocational Nursing or its equivalent
  • AHA Basic Life Support
  • IV Certification
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • One year of previous experience in a related setting
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Foothill Only)

Salary Range: $30.63 - $41.14 per hour
