Compensation: $130-150K annually, Based on experience

Capstone IT is assisting our client in hiring a COBOL Mainframe Developer. This role involves designing, developing, testing, installing, and maintaining systems and applications that align with business objectives. You will analyze and convert financial data from various banking systems to our client's platform, develop COBOL applications for efficient data migration, and provide end-to-end consultation to clients. Additionally, you will assess systems and applications, offer modeling and simulation consulting to clarify client technology functionality and evaluate and implement new technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Develop COBOL applications to convert and migrate financial data.
• Perform project analysis to identify specific conversion and implementation requirements.
• Provide end-to-end consultation to clients throughout the conversion and implementation process.
• Collaborate with IT teams and business partners to develop technical solutions that meet client needs.
• Engage in all stages of the SDLC: requirements, analysis, design, coding, testing, and implementation.
• Maintain and enhance application performance, ensuring compliance with operational standards.
• Develop and test efficient code, moving it through development and into production.
• Maintain the mainframe using utilities (CA7, Endevor, IDPC, Infoman, and IOF.)

Technical Experience:

• Proficient in Linux, UNIX (AIX), z/OS, and scripting with PowerShell and Bash/UNIX.
• Experience in JAVA, J2EE, EJB, JavaBeans, JavaScript, servlets, JDBC, struts, JSR-352, Hibernate.
• Strong background in COBOL, CICS, MVS, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, FileAid, CA-EasyTrieve.
• Familiar with scheduling tools like CA-7 and Control-M, and debugging with Abend-AID.
• Working knowledge of Git, Jenkins, RunDeck, Endevour, HELM, Ansible.
• Experience with IDEs such as Eclipse, IntelliJ, Visual Studio Code, IBM Developer for z/OS.
• Skilled in JSON, AVRO, XML, XPath, SOAP & Restful APIs.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration with AKS, Kubernetes, OCP (OpenShift), Docker, PodMan.
• Familiarity with WLP, WebSphere, Open Liberty, Quarkus, Spring Boot/Batch.
• Experience with messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, MQ Series.
• Expertise in DB2, SQL, MS Access, Yugabyte.
• Experience with FTP/SFTP, NDM.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Programming, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10-15+ years of experience in COBOL development, with a strong background in mainframe environments.
• Experience in the banking and/or financial services industry preferred.
• Proficiency with SQL and an understanding of database structures.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical specifications to clients and implementation teams.
• Java development experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with SDLC, TFS, JIRA, PCI, OWASP, and other security standards.
• Excellent technical, code, and process documentation skills.
• Willingness to relocate or commute to Lincoln/Omaha, Nebraska; Alpharetta, Georgia; or Berkeley Heights, New Jersey.
