The Role:

The position is for a Commercial Operations Manager for Guardian Service Industries in the Newark, NJ area. The Manager will be responsible for training, supervising, and monitoring work activities of employees and clients. They will also be responsible for analyzing, establishing, or adjusting work schedules to ensure completion of job assignments.

Responsibilities and Skills:
  • Ability to provide labor on short notice.
  • Provide recommendations to improve cleaning methods or quality of service.
  • Interpret department procedures and enforce safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Possess a driver's license.
  • Able to work flexible hours, occasionally including weekends.
  • Available to work if needed during emergency situations (flood, snow etc.).
  • Knowledge of the commercial janitorial industry.
  • Familiarity with stripping & waxing floors as well as shampooing carpets.
  • Know how to create a section list.
  • Understands commercial, union janitorial operations:
    • Staffing
    • Progressive discipline
    • Sectioning
    • Computerized payroll
  • Proficient in the use of a smart phone and iPad to do inspections.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment.
  • Must know concepts, methods and techniques of scheduling, supervision, inspection and distribution of materials.
  • Able to implement and/or give verbal and written instructions.
  • Have ability to prioritize and plan work to meet deadlines. Must know how to interpret specifications and requisition of materials.
  • Ability to carry, lift, push or pull thirty (30) pounds or more.
  • Knowledge of Excel and basic math.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in supervisory level position.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience/floor maintenance/window and general cleaning.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work load, organized and detail oriented.
  • Professionalism and flexibility to assist and accommodate accordingly.
  • Residing in New Jersey is preferred.
  • Enthusiasm and positive, can-do attitude.
  • Spanish/Eastern European proficiency a plus.
